PMJ Papier Mache Clay Jewelry
PMJ is my own creation. Using a proprietary formula of ingredients, I've come up with a very hard wearing substance that can be formed, molded, and carved into almost any shape desired. Since the precious metals market has gone through the roof, I wanted to offer a less expensive product that let me express my creativity in new and unique ways. These pieces are durable and light, water resistant but not water proof, and are extremely wearable. The pins can be converted to necklaces with the addition of my recycled rubber chokers and necklaces. They're sealed and coated to make everyday wear comfortable and easy. All of them are unique - I hand draw every line!
Every piece is shaped, then hand sanded, sometimes for several hours, then finish coated with another texture of PMJC, then sanded again and any defects filled a second time. After the last sanding, the fun begins. I start by either decoupaging a hand drawn design directly onto the blank or by finishing the surface with a coat of acrylic paint. After the paint dries, I either draw directly on the surface or I coat it with several coats of sealer, depending on the effect I'm trying to achieve. When I use several coats of sealer and build up a shiny surface, I can draw directly on the piece and give the design an illusion of floating. When the drawings are dry and set, I add another coat to finish the process and let it dry a final time. Some of the pieces you see have as many as ten coats!
Every piece is individually signed.
These are definitely something different - a small piece of wearable art that anyone can afford. I hope you enjoy!
All pins below can be converted to necklaces - add $5.00
Those shown with cords are necklace only.
Size indicator - 5 background slats =1"

If a piece is marked sold, don't despair! I can make another similar to it - it won't be identical, but it will be very close to the original!
