Big(ger) bottles - Fine Silver over borosilicate glass jewelry
The experts who make Art Clay Silver (TM) will tell you that you can't fire it over glass because the coefficients of expansion are too radically different. That simply means that they haven't figured out how to do so. I have! The bottles in these pieces measure about 1" across at the widest point, and approximately 2" high when the necks haven't been cut off. They're made of borosilicate glass, which makes them harder (but not impossible) to break, and they've been annealed which makes the glass itself stronger. Each of the designs is hand drawn. I use a pattern but not a mold for each piece so there will be differences in how each piece comes out due to the humidity and temperature at the time it's made, the warpage when I fire it, and other factors beyond my control.
Fine Silver Art Jewelry is a unique blend of art and artisan. The skill sets needed to make the patterns that I use are far different from those needed to make the jewelry, fire it, then take it from a brushed aluminum finish to the full, polished silver shine that can be achieved with hours of careful attention to details.
I've broken my collection into different groups, and each group has clickable links to the items pictured. I hope you enjoy the designs! Please click the pictures to be directed to that page. Most pages will have a clickable picture that will show a larger view if desired.
